Ramon Vega is a Mexican singer and songwriter known for blending regional Mexican music with urban genres. He is part of the musical Vega dynasty, a family known particularly for their excellence in Norteño music. Born on September 12, 2005, in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico, he rose to prominence through his YouTube covers, where he gained a significant following. In 2021, he released his debut EP, "2000 Siempre," which further showcased his unique musical style. Ramon Vega continues to make a mark in the Latin music scene, earning recognition for his fresh approach and catchy sound.
In June, he released his newest single, “Algo Bien”, translating to something good. It marks the first single off his upcoming album. We had the opportunity to sit down with Vega at Sony Latin Studios, to discuss his new single and upcoming album and what his future plans are.
LCKD: What was the process and inspiration behind your newest song, “Algo Bien”?
RAMON VEGA: The inspiration behind this song was the beach, particularly the beach in San Carlos, Sonora. It’s the place where I go to disconnect and have a good time with my friends and the girls. The inspiration really comes from all those days where we are just out having fun and that’s why I thought it was important to film the video there too.
LCKD: What would you say is different about this new song when compared to the rest of your discography?
RAMON VEGA: Well, this is the first song I’ve written that is considered straight Mexican Regional music. I am not sure if it would be considered a corrido tumbado, maybe more of a corrido belico, since there are so many versions now, but to me it’s just a corrido talking about having fun with your homies, talking and hanging out. To be honest, the project behind this song really excites me because this song is part of an album I’ve been working on for about ten months. This album is super special to me because it marks a return to my roots. My family, the Vega dynasty, has always been synonymous to Mexican Regional music. When I started in music, I was working in a totally different genre and this song symbolizes more of a return to my roots which makes it very special for me.
LCKD: What type of message do you want your fans to get from this song?
RAMON VEGA: I not only want them to listen to this song when they are going through something great, but I would love for it to also serve as the bandaid that can help cure you when you aren't going through the best of times. I want this song to be there for them not just during the good times, I want my fans to be able to hold on to it when they need it most, as they know to do with my music in general. I just want them to be able to create good memories with my song.
LCKD: How did your producer, David Moreno, help you when it comes to releasing this song or any other project you have collaborated on?
RAMON VEGA: Shoutout to David, I’m really happy that you guys brought him up. “El Flaco” (the skinny guy) is a beast, I admire him a lot. He is someone who made a huge impact in my life when he showed up in my life. He is the person behind a lot of my hit songs, he composed “Tirame Un Hello”, which is a song that had a huge impact on my career. “El Faquito” is a super talented guy and he is the one behind all the production of this new album. Also my brother, Cesar, who is out there in Obregon, my hood. Those are the two minds behind all these works so shoutout to the OGs.
LCKD: I know you have had the opportunity to collaborate with artists like Christian Nodal already, but who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
RAMON VEGA: I have a song with Carin coming out soon so shoutout to him. We’ve also been talking about doing a song with the guys from Grupo Frontera soon, we’ve just been looking for the perfect song for us to hop on together. There are a lot of surprises coming though. I also have a song with Jasiel Nuñez coming out soon, a corrido also, and a lot more surprises coming.
LCKD: How has Sony supported you in your career so far?
RAMON VEGA: Sony has been the foundation, when I signed my contract with them is when my dream finally began to come true. They have always been there and been attentive to my projects, my music, and my dreams. The relationship I have with the people in this company, this professional family, is really that, a family relationship. Apart from all the infrastructure that they have, they have something more important, which is that human connection. Its important for me to have that, that at the end of a day of work, the people who work here and I can leave the office and go get a taco and we can talk about whats coming, my dreams, my music, what i want to do. To have that kind of support is really big. They are the foundation of this dream.
LCKD: What are your goals and aspirations for your career in the future?
RAMON VEGA: Honestly, my goal is to just keep on living off of what I like to do and what makes me happy, in the short and long term. As for the present, I have to really thank all my fans for the opportunity for me to live this life I always dreamed of, doing what I love, and with so many blessings around me. My goal is to just give the people watching me that same message, to go out and do whatever it is that makes you passionate and to know that if that's what drives you, to go out and get it.
LCKD: Congratulations again on your newest single. Is there anything else you'd like to share with your fans?
RAMON VEGA: First of all, thank you for the time and for being here to listen to me talk about all I’ve got coming up. As for my fans, all the kids reading this, my only message is to go follow your dreams, follow your passion. I am a testament to what faith, passion, and love can do for your dreams. That passion and faith can move mountains and can make incredible things happen. Always do things from the heart and keep your faith in God strong. Nothing more I can tell you other than please keep listening to my music and stay tuned for all the great things coming. Thank you very much!
